Welcome to the SIDS Coordinators section of the California SIDS Program website. This site is designed to serve and support the 61 health jurisdictions throughout the State. It is specifically intended for SIDS Coordinators and public health professionals providing SIDS services at the local level.
Training: provides tools and resources to plan and conduct effective SIDS training and risk reduction education programs.
Education: offers support materials in the areas of crisis support, grief and bereavement, and risk reduction. Includes information about educational opportunities.
Professional Resources: contains the Practical Guide, Leader's Guide curriculum for teaching about SIDS, and Informational Portfolios for distributing SIDS literature.
Protocols: includes legislatively mandated standardized protocols for conducting and reporting the death scene investigation and autopsy and documenting PHN support services for a presumed SIDS death.
SIDS Laws: contains all legislation passed in California including the Boatwright bills, which fund SIDS support services, education, and training.
Bereavement Support: provides resources for grieving SIDS families such as funeral and burial assistance, local bereavement groups, and trained peer contacts.
Frequently Asked Questions: answers some of the most common questions asked by professionals regarding grief and bereavement, risk reduction, and programmatic concerns.
