This three hour program will provide information on what Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is and is not; maternal/infant risk factors for SIDS; what to do during and after a SIDS emergency; and the death investigation. Talking to children about the death and what to say to the SIDS parent will be covered in addition to the impact of SIDS on caregivers. SIDS risk reduction recommendations and suggested infant care practices for childcare providers are included as part of this program. Targeted groups for this presentation could include licensed/non-licensed childcare providers and day care providers and licensed foster parents.
This educational session can be adapted for presentations to babysitters, grandparents, allied child care staff, and other infant caregivers by modifying the content and shortening the time frame.
Support Materials
Booklets, brochures, handouts, and other resources are included to support your training needs. These materials are available to download and print as PDF's.
