The California Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Program invites you to join us on October 29-30, 2012 for Hearts United in Healing, the 32^nd Annual California SIDS Program Fall Conference. This year's events and agenda have been planned in collaboration with the Southern California Regional SIDS Council and the California Department of Public Health, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division. The conference site is the California Endowment Center located at 1000 N. Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. The Center is conveniently located within walking distance of Union Station which is serviced by public transportation, metro lines, taxis and shuttle services.

A room block has been secured at the nearby DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown (formerly Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens) where an evening of complimentary pre-conference events will take place on October 29th. The hotel, located at 120 S. Los Angeles Street, is less than a mile from the Conference venue. Both locations are within minutes of local L.A. tourist attractions, restaurants and shopping venues and easily accessible by commuters or those travelers flying into Los Angeles International Airport or Burbank Airport.

We are honored to have as our conference keynote speaker, Hannah C. Kinney, MD, a world renowned SIDS researcher. Dr. Kinney is a Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and an Associate in Medicine at the Department of Pathology, Children's Hospital Boston.

This conference is for:

Clergy, coroners/coroner's investigators, daycare providers, DSS childcare licensing staff, emergency department personnel, emergency medical technicians, families, fire department personnel, foster parents, funeral directors, general practitioners, grandparents, health care administrators, hospital personnel, law enforcement officers, medical examiners, paramedics, parents, pathologists, pediatricians, physicians, public health nurses, SIDS Coordinators, social workers and those individuals interested in learning more about SIDS and other sleep-related infant deaths.

Conference Details and Registration:

• Some California SIDS Parent Support Organizations will provide limited funding to help cover conference related expenses for SIDS parents/family members residing in California.
• Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be offered for RNs. Provider approved by California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 12781.
• Registration fees will include a continental breakfast, lunch and conference materials. Registration is required to attend the day's events; there is no "onsite" registration available. Complete conference details including the day's agenda, invited speakers, registration form, fee schedule and travel information will be available on the California SIDS Program website at www.californiasids.com in the coming weeks.
• California Department of Public Health MCAH SIDS Program funds can be utilized by local health jurisdictions to support conference costs including travel and registration fees for attendees. Watch for more details as they become available in the coming weeks.
