| Coroners/coroner's investigators, DSS childcare analysts, emergency department personnel, emergency medical technicians, fire personnel, first responders, health educators, hospital staff, law enforcement officers, nurses, paramedics, public health nurses, social workers, SIDS Coordinators and public health professionals involved with SIDS. |

| This four (4) hour morning course complies with SB 1068 which requires SIDS education be provided to all persons who interact with parents and caregivers following a SIDS death. |
| Public Health Professionals |
This day long course meets the requirements of SB 362 to prepare public health professionals with basic counseling skills and knowledge about SIDS to support families and childcare providers impacted by this tragedy.

Special Guest Presenter: Thomas G. Keens, MD Professor of Pediatrics, Physiology and Biophysics, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California Division of Pediatric Pulmonology, Children's Hospital Los Angeles

Dr. Keens will present an overview of SIDS theories and current research findings. He will discuss the newly expanded 2011 American Academy of Pediatrics SIDS risk reduction and safe sleep recommendations, explore the issue of unsafe sleeping environments and outline educational interventions to protect babies from suffocation, SIDS and other sleep-related infant deaths.

Emergency Responders - EMTs and Paramedics
- This course has been approved for four (4) hours of continuing education by an approved California EMS CE Provider and is instructor based. California EMS CE Provider #34-3100.

Public Health Professionals - RNs and PHNs
- CEUs are offered for RNs. Provider approved by California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 12781. Public health professionals requesting CEUs must attend all day. There are no credits for partial attendance.

- Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Register by phone, fax or online (email).

- Registration will close at the end of business on March 14, 2012.
- There is no registration fee for this training. Onsite registration is not available.
- RN/EMT Continuing Education Units (CEU's) and training materials are provided at no cost.
- Attendees will receive a packet of informational/educational resources and printed speaker power point presentations.
- Parking is available at the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) at no charge. Registrants are encouraged to car pool as space is limited.
- A map and written directions to the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) are available on their website at www.sdcoe.net/map.asp. The training will be held in Building 4, Rooms 401 and 402. - Upon receipt of a completed registration form, the California SIDS Program will send enrollees a directional map and registration confirmation notice.

| Food: |
- A continental breakfast will be provided from 8:00 am to 8:30am. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to sign-in with staff and enjoy the morning refreshments. The training will begin promptly at 8:30 am.
- Lunch is not provided. The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) has a cafeteria on-site which is one option for lunch. For planning purposes, attendees wanting to have lunch at the SDCOE cafeteria are requested to indicate this on the training registration form. There are also fast food restaurants/eating establishments nearby. Enrollees may bring their lunch as the facility has an outside patio area in addition to the training room.
